The Vigenere Cipher is a simple form of polyalphabetic substitution; the method encrypts a message based off a key passed by the message's creator. The message can then be decrypted easily if you know the key.

This method is a great encryption implementation because using its frequency analysis will not help to decipher the secret message. Also, the same letters can (and will) be encrypted into different letters. For example, if your message contains the word green, the encrypted message's e's will both most likely be a different letter.
